Midge Ure

Midge Ure

  • Ultravox & Visage
  • Entertaining After Dinner Speaker & Storyteller
  • Fascinating, Insightful Speaker

Midge has won a host of awards, including Ivor Novello, Grammy and BASCAP awards, and has produced a number of gold and platinum-selling records.

Along with Sir Bob Geldof, Midge wrote the iconic and timeless Christmas song, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ in 1984, and produced the record in West London’s SARM Studios along with the 36 artists collectively known as Band Aid.

The song was the music industry’s heartfelt and eloquent contribution to the call for aid famine-stricken Ethiopia, and eventually led to Live Aid in 1986 – a global concert that spoke for a whole generation.

Still a Band Aid Trustee, Sir Bob has said that without Midge's enthusiasm and sketch for the single, neither Band Aid nor Live Aid could have happened. As a result, he was awarded an OBE for services to music and charity

Midge is a fascinating, insightful speaker and a truly extraordinary entertainer. He talks about his career from Ultravox to his solo work, and of course not forgetting what Live Aid and the Live 8 concerts mean to him; where Midge explains how the musicians aimed to convince the eight world leaders to focus on fighting poverty in the third world.
