Jake and Hannah Graf

Hannah and Jake Graf, dubbed The UK's most influential LGBTQ+ Power Couple, are inspiring advocates for gender, equality and diversity. Jake is an award-winning director, writer and actor and Hannah is an Officer of the British Army - together they are on a mission to spread acceptance and understanding of the transgender experience.

They each speak openly about their experience of being trans within their own fields. Jake, best known for his roles in The Danish Girl and Colette, uses the medium of film and his role as a director to show positive representations of trans people onscreen. His short films have won prizes on the LGBTQ+ festival circuit and his first feature film Lavender is a hopeful and positive story about trans identity. Many of his films are used as educational tools in universities, schools, prisons and media events internationally. Hannah on the other hand is a decorated officer who has been deployed to Afghanistan, Kenya and Canada with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. She was also the Army’s Transgender Representative, educating and advising senior commanders, supporting the Army’s transgender soldiers and updating the Army’s policy - for which she was awarded an MBE. Following retirement from the Army, Hannah now works in the financial sector. She is a proud role model for others, showing that transgender women don't have to be pigeonholed into stereotypically feminine jobs.

Speaking either separately or together, they both share their experiences candidly and express the importance of representation, knowing first-hand the positive effect that openly trans people had on their own transitions. They also talk about their experience of becoming parents, which they shared in the Channel 4 documentary Our Baby: A Modern Miracle.

Between them, they have spoken on trans issues at The White House, the Speaker’s House in Westminster and in many TV interviews including Lorraine, The One Show, Good Morning Britain and The Victoria Derbyshire Show.
