Comedian Tom O'Connor has been a favourite with British TV audiences for many years, hosting such shows as Crosswits, The Zodiac Game, Name That Tune and Password.
As with many comedians with a background in stand-up, Tom began his career touring northern working men’s clubs, a tough audience to win over, especially considering that he is celebrated for being hilarious without needing to turn "blue"! For this and many other reasons, Tom possesses the ability to appeal to people of all generations and from all walks of life.
Reflecting his stand-up comic heritage, Tom's first television break came when he appeared on the 1970s show The Comedians. He was quickly spotted by producers as having a personality and look that was ideal for presenting TV game and chat shows, and thus become one of the most popular faces on British TV.
As well as being a talented comedian, Tom is also a fine straight actor, and in 2000 made his television acting debut as Father Tom (a Catholic priest) in the BBC series Doctors. His stage acting debut was as Pike in The Perils Of The Pond at The Playhouse, Weston-super-Mare in 1991. In addition, Tom has also appeared in Summer Stock Theatre and in numerous cabaret tours and pantomimes.
Tom is also a TV record breaker. In 2006 he was given an award for having appeared as a guest on the TV programme Countdown 100 times. Four years later, he was the winner of Celebrity Come Dine With Me, scoring a record breaking 29 out of 30 points. In 2011, Tom appeared on a celebrity edition of the BBC One game show Pointless with his daughter-in-law Denise Lewis (a gold medal winning Olympic heptathlete). They reached the final, eventually winning £500 for charity.
Tom has also written many books, including Tom O'Connor's Book Of Liverpool Humour, From The Wood To The Tees: An Amusing Golf Companion, One Flew Over The Clubhouse, Take A Funny Turn, Follow Me, and I Remember: The Collected Thoughts Of Tom O’Connor.
With his sharp humour and irresistible charm, Tom O’Connor makes a perfect choice as an Events Host, Awards Host, Presenter on Golf Days and as an After-dinner Entertainer.
