Actor and award-winning documentary maker Ross Kemp’s investigative journalism series covers a range of extreme situations, from gang culture to conflict zones to border stand-offs. During a Talks Ross discusses the experience of capturing compelling stories in dangerous situations.
For 10 years Ross starred in EastEnders alongside Steve McFadden (as brother, Phil Mitchell) and Barbara Windsor (as mother, Peggy), and won a number of awards including Best Actor at the British Soap Awards in 1999 and 2006. After leaving EastEnders, Ross moved on to other TV projects, including the popular show Ultimate Force, before gaining international recognition for his award-winning documentaries.
That career move was inspired by a brief meeting with a member of the Bloods gang in California, which prompted Ross to go to Sky 1 with the idea for Gangs – resulting in 27 episodes.
Ross then switched his focus to the conflict in Afghanistan, travelling to the country many times between 2007 and 2012. He spent time with 1 Royal Anglian, 5 Scots, 1 Royal Irish and 45 Commando and he and his team were nominated for a BAFTA and won a Broadcast Award for their work.
Ross is a Sunday Times Best Selling author and his titles include Ross Kemp on Gangs, Ross Kemp on Afghanistan, Ross Kemp on Pirates, Warriors & Raiders and his latest, A-Z of Hell: How Not to Travel the World.
Ross is a rugby fan and is a patron of the charity Help for Heroes.
Ross can deliver keynote presentations with audience Q&A which focus on his real life experiences of the world’s most dangerous places; from gang culture to conflict zones. Ross links his experiences back to conflict resolution, teamwork, overcoming adversity, strategic planning, quick thinking under pressure and problem solving. He can also deliver fascinating and compelling after dinner talks and host awards ceremonies.
