Professor Ian Angell is a freelance speaker and consultant, whose radical and controversial views on the global consequences of information technology have earned him a high profile reputation as a futurologist. Despite a polemic style, he is one of the wittiest technology experts, and even when addressing audiences who may not be technology savvy he regularly succeeds in eliciting an uproarious response.
Professor Angell’s reputation represents the culmination of twenty years work developing a new perspective on information systems, which stresses that the social, economic and organizational issues are more important than the technological ones.
Professor Angell was Professor of Information Systems at the London School of Economics (LSE) until his 'retirement' in September 2011. On his retirement, Ian was made a Professor Emeritus at the LSE, and is now busier than ever, writing books and articles, giving interviews, and travelling the world consulting and giving speeches. He acts as a consultant on the management, security and strategic impact of information systems for many national and international organizations, as well as a number of governments and the European Union (EU).
