Phil Tufnell is former cricketer turned television personality, well known for his entertaining appearances on TV programmers ranging from A Question Of Sport to I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
Affectionately known throughout the cricketing world as The Cat, Phil was a highly respected spin bowler who played 42 Test Matches and 20 One Day Internationals for England between 1990 and 2001, and 316 first-class matches, mainly for Middlesex. Phil notched up more than 1,000 first class wickets during a decade-long association with Middlesex.
Phil switched to a career in broadcasting after retiring from professional cricket in 2003, beginning as a summariser on BBC Radio's Test Match Special, a role he maintains to this day. Also on radio, Phil has hosted The Phil Tufnell Cricket Show and the Tuffers And Vaughan Cricket Show (both BBC Radio 5 Live).
Phil's broadcasting career received a notable boost in 2003 after he won the second series of the ITV reality show I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. Prior to this, he had appeared on Lily Savage's Blankety Blank and was a team captain on the popular BBC1 sports quiz They Think It's All Over. Phil also co-presented the ITV game show Simply The Best (with Kirsty Gallacher), and made two guest appearances on the soap opera Family Affairs (Channel 5). Phil's other TV credits include All Star Mr & Mrs, Hole In The Wall, Strictly Come Dancing, Draw It, Get Your Act Together, The Jump and Would I Lie To You?
As well as hitting ball on willow, Phil has also put to paper, authoring a number of best selling books, including Tuffers' Cricket Tales, Tuffers On Tour, Tuffers' Alternative Guide To The Ashes, Tuffers' Twitter Tales, Phil Tufnell's' A To Z Of Cricket (with Adam Hathaway), Tuffers' Cricket Hall Of Fame, and two autobiographies - What Now? and Where Am I?
