Since winning of The Festival Critics' Award at the 1997 Edinburgh Festival, Johnny Vegas has become one of the UK's most popular comedians and comic actors, making regular appearances on top TV shows, such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Benidorm. Other TV credits include Still Open All Hours, Warren United, Secrets From The Clink, The Funny Thing About Dating, and Home From Home.
Johnny made his television debut as a contestant on Win, Lose Or Draw in 1996, under his real name Michael Pennington. He then featured on The Big Breakfast and subsequently made a brief appearance on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups and BBC Three's Almost Famous 2. Johnny went on to earn the adulation of wider audiences as a regular member of the comedy quiz show Shooting Stars.
In addition to his natural abilities as a stand up comedian, Johnny has also graced Britain's TV screens as a comedy actor. Between 2007 and 2009, he played Geoff 'The Oracle' Maltby in the ITV sitcom Benidorm. He made numerous guest appearances during the programme's seventh series (2015), returning full-time in Series 8 (2016).
Johnny regularly makes guest appearances on TV programmes, such as Top Gear, Dave's One Night Stand, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, The Jonathan Ross Show, Through The Keyhole, Celebrity Storage Hunters and Alan Carr's 12 Stars Of Christmas. Johnny was one of the few people to get a smile out of Anne Robinson when he appeared on the popular quiz show The Weakest Link!
Johnny's film roles include Jackie Symes in The Virgin Of Liverpool, Dave in Sex Lives Of The Potato Men, Milky Pimms in Brimsby and Arthur Braxton in The Drowning Of Arthur Braxton.
