One of the most original and distinctive comedy stars on television, radio and the stage, Jimmy Carr has enjoyed huge success for over a decade, gaining three LAFTA Awards, a British Comedy Award, a Royal Television Society Award, and a Perrier Award nomination along the way.
Known for his signature laugh, deadpan delivery, dark humour, and use of edgy one-liners, Jimmy is often referred to as 'the hardest working man in comedy'. He has so far performed his stand-up shows to nearly 2 million people in the UK. On top of his mammoth touring schedule, he has been the host of Channel 4's 8 Out of 10 Cats comedy panel show for an amazing 18 series, as well as the spin off show 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (seven series to date).
On top of this, Jimmy has hosted Channel 4's annual Big Fat Quiz Of The Year since 2004. He has also regularly co-hosted 10 O'Clock Live For C4, alongside David Mitchell, Charlie Brooker and Lauren Laverne, and has been a guest presenter for Have I Got News for You (BBC1), as well as appearing on the show as Ian Hislop's team member. Other TV shows that Jimmy has appeared on as a guest include: Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC2), A League Of Their Own (Sky1), QI (BBC2), Top Gear (BBC2), The Graham Norton Show (BBC1) and Comic Relief (BBC1).
A household name in the UK, Jimmy is also a rising star in the USA, where his profile continues to grow through appearances on NBC's The Tonight Show (three times) and Late Night with Conan O'Brien (five times). In March 2012, he performed in the Secret Policeman’s Ball at Radio City Hall in New York, transmitted live in the US on EPIX and again in the UK on Channel 4.
Jimmy tours with his stand-up shows continuously over the course of the year, taking only five weeks off between them! His 2012/2013 tour, Gagging Order, saw him play over 250 dates around the UK and Ireland, finishing off with three huge arena shows in South Africa. His current tour, Funny Business, is proving to be just as popular as his previous tour shows (he has done nine tours so far). As with previous tours, the format allows Jimmy to take his rapid fire jokes and remarks to a level that wouldn't be possible on TV, and the audience simply love it. In addition to his UK tours, Jimmy performed at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival for the ninth time in July 2013. He has also appeared three times in front of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales as part of the Royal Variety Performance.
Jimmy has nine live DVD releases to his name, including Live, Stand Up, Comedian, In Concert, Telling Jokes, Making People Laugh, Being Funny, and Jimmy Carr: Laughing and Joking, which have in total sold over 1.5 million copies to date. He is also a pioneer of digital comedy, topping the album charts on iTunes and with a Twitter following of over 4 million, and was the first major comedian to perform within the online world of Second Life, the results of which can be seen as an extra on the Comedian DVD.
