Jeremy Rifkin is an American economist, social theorist, advisor and best-selling author, with specialist knowledge concerning the impact of scientific and technological changes on society and industry. His books have been translated into more than thirty five languages and are used in universities, corporations and government agencies around the world.

Part of Jeremy’s remit as an economic and environmental specialist is in an advisory capacity and in this respect he has been an advisor to the European Union since 2000, advising the past three Presidents of the European Commission on issues related to the economy, climate change and energy security. He has also served as an advisor to the leadership of the European Parliament and to key leaders of EU states during their respective European Council Presidencies, including Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Nicolas Sarkozy of France and Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero of Spain.

In 2011, Jeremy published the New York Times bestseller The Third Industrial Revolution, which captured the attention of the world. It set out his vision of a sustainable, post carbon economic era - an economic and environmentally sustainable model that has been endorsed by the European Union and the United Nations and embraced by a number of world leaders.
