Jason Gardener MBE

Jason Gardener is one of the UK's greatest sprinters, winning gold in the 4x100m relay at the Athens Olympics (2004), the same year that he became World Indoor Champion over 60m. He is one of the select few to have run 100m in under 10 seconds.

For fourteen years Jason Gardener represented Great Britain at the highest level in the world of athletics and was British team captain on numerous occasions. During an illustrious career he held Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European titles. He was awarded an MBE for services to sport in 2005 and received the Freedom of the City of Bath in 2006.

After retiring from track and field in 2007, Jason has gone on to become a senior business professional within the sports industry. He is President of UK Athletics, Managing Director of dc-sport and Director of Team Super Schools.

Jason graduated from Bath Spa University in 2003 and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Bath in 2017. He has contributed to the University of Bath through his efforts to raise the international profile of the University and to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders in sport. This has included attracting high-profile teams and sports people to use our campus facilities and attracting high-calibre students to join the University.

He has extensive sport, industry and media expertise, writing a series of articles for the Sunday Telegraph, and broadcast reporting for the BBC, ITV West and Channel 4. His sport consultancy experience includes work with Red Bull, City Football Group, Puma, the University of Bath, Bath Rugby, the Youth Sport Trust and United Learning. Jason has also served as a non-executive Director for London Marathon Charitable Trust, UK Athletics and the British Athletes Commission.

Jason supports a number of charities and enjoys being active and travelling.
