James had an impressive career, starting off by being the youngest debutant player in London Wasps Premiership history when he took to the pitch in 2002 at the age of 18, as well as uniquely being the only England International ever to have played in both the Japanese Top League and the Super 15 in New Zealand.

James missed out on a place in the 2007 World Cup Team but made his International Debut the same year in the final game of the 2007 Six Nations against Wales. He went on to play a key part of England’s Six Nations team in 2008 & 2009, and scored two tries in the opening match of the 2010 Six Nations and was back in the winning 2011 team.

James was a member of the 2011 World Cup squad in New Zealand, a team that reached the Quarter Finals.

Alongside his international appearances, he has twice played for the British and Irish Lions, Winning Man of the Series in an England victory against Australia.

He announced his retirement from Professional Rugby in 2019 and went on to sign to the heavyweight division of mixed martial arts promotion Bellator MMA, he joined the 2019 series of ITV‘s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

As well as being a Six Nations winner he has off-the-field interests stretching from a coffee brand to a health and fitness business.

James is very popular in the media world, a regular studio pundit for Sky Sports as their England and France expert, he has also broadcast on TalkSPORT and co-commentates on BBC Radio 5 Live. He’s been on Sky’s Celebrity Poker, A Question of Sport and is an ambassador for Wooden Spoon.
