Charlie Martin represents a paradigm shift in motorsport that has never been seen before, her story has captured the imagination of people around the world, leading to appearances on national television & news and in some of the most prestigious international publications.
As a transgender woman in motorsport, she occupies a unique role within her sport and the LGBTQ+ community, having faced incredible adversity to become her true authentic self. Her tenacity & self-belief have helped her to overcome the impossible and push for change when the odds were stacked against her - in a male dominated sport that lacks visible diversity, she is changing perceptions and championing inclusivity.
Having lost her parents at a young age, Charlie only began racing at the age of 23, she never had anyone supporting her entry into the world of motor racing. Hard work and determination helped her start at club level, from here she has gone onto race a huge variety of machinery ranging from hot hatches to single seaters, GT cars & prototypes. She spent 3 years racing in the French Hillclimb Championship, driving at speeds approaching 140mph on closed public roads, where she achieved regular success and learnt to speak fluent French.
Charlie transitioned to female mid-way through her career, and despite considerable adversity has worked to improve awareness and visibility for the transgender community. She is a Sports Champion for Stonewall (Europe’s largest LGBTQ+ charity), Patron for Mermaids, & Ambassador for Athlete Ally (USA).
She is now embarking on the ambition of a lifetime to make history as the first transgender driver to compete at the 24hrs of Le Mans, the greatest race in the World. Her fearlessness both in and out of the car makes Charlie one of the most eye catching and engaging drivers competing in international motor racing today, and she tells her story with up front honesty & passion.

Charlie good, well prepped, we ran over so had to cut her slightly shorter but she held the room (they were silent) and was on point.
