Mariella Frostrup Fronts New Fundraising Campaign

Journalist and television presenter Mariella Frostrup has been announced as the voice behind a new fundraising campaign launched by the National Literacy Trust (NLT). The role involves her narrating a short story, describing the story of an 8 year old girl named Mia who learns to read with the assistance of the NTL, despite her family being illiterate. This campaign has been created with the aim of asking members of the public to donate money towards to assistance of disadvantaged children and young people, just like Mia, who require additional support with their literacy skills. The National Literacy Trust currently works with and helps around 38,000 children every year to boost their confidence by supplying books, workshops, one to one support and invitations to storytelling events. The launch has coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Trust, along with activities such as a Where’s Wally? fun run that will be held in March this year. Jonathan Douglas, director of NLT said “We know that if you can read, you can succeed. We want the public to help us give more children like Mia a route out of poverty...At this time of unprecedented economic hardship, our charity's work has never been so necessary.” To view the video that aims to promote the Trust and encourage donations, click here.
