John Bishop - Comedy Genius from Merseyside

John Bishop is an hilarious stand up comedian who has really exploded onto our television screens in over the past two years after many successful years on the comedy circuit.

Bishop began his career in comedy way back in October 2000 yet by the following year he had already made it to the final of every major new act competition including the City Life North West Comedian of The Year Award which he went on to win.

Bishop took a massive gamble on his dream of becoming a successful comic, giving up a job with a pharmaceutical company (complete with pension plan and company car) in 2006 so that he could pursue comedy full-time. Thankfully for both Bishop and his fans, this gamble paid off and now he is a familiar face on both the comedy circuit and on our television screens.

His first major television appearance took place in 2009 when he appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow as the first act. In the same year he was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for his sensational Elvis Has Left The Building show.

He now regularly appears on popular panel shows like Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie To You and 8 Out Of Ten Cats. He also presents his own hit show on BBC One John Bishop’s Britain, which is a firm favourite with British TV audiences.

A lot of John Bishop’s charm comes from his friendly and down to earth nature; this makes him ideal for hosting corporate events or being an after dinner speaker.
