Trevor’s broadcasting journey started at then pirate station Kiss FM in 1985. Having been granted its license in 1990, as a director of the station Trevor hosted a weekly daytime show.

In 1996 he hosted the 1st national R&B radio show for Radio1.

In 1998 Trevor joined MTV to host their flagship R&B show, “The Lick” The show aired for 11 years on MTV Base, making it the longest running show on the channel.

In 2010 hosted the first ever MTV Africa Awards from Lagos, Nigeria.

As a pioneer in the UK urban scene with a stint behind the scenes in A&R at Cooltempo, EMI, Trevor was instrumental in the careers of D’Angelo, Mica Paris and Lynden David Hall.

Continues to DJ around the globe, as of 2012 Trevor is in his 10th year residency at Pacha in Ibiza.

Released 7 compilation albums, including INCredible sound of Trevor Nelson, The Soul Nation CD plus 3 “Lick” compilations.

Won 4 Mobos for Best DJ

2002 awarded an MBE for work with the Millennium Volunteers.

In 2010 awarded a GOLD lifetime achievement award by the Sony Radio Academy, and was nominated as a Hackney Ambassador to coincide with the 2012 Olympics.
