Sandi Toksvig is a Danish-British comedian, actor and presenter, well known to both TV and radio audiences. She is renowned as a witty and astute comedian, and is a highly popular After-dinner Speaker.

Sandi began her comedy career at Cambridge University, where she wrote and performed in the first all-woman show at the Cambridge Footlights. She was a contemporary of fellow Footlights members Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson, and wrote additional material for their award winning Footlights Review.

After graduating, Sandi worked for the Children's Department at BBC Television, presenting No 73, The Saturday Starship, The Sandwich Quiz and Gilbert's Fridge. However, it was through her natural talent as a comedian that Sandi really began to establish herself on TV, earning a reputation as a quick witted panellist on such shows as Call My Bluff, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Mock The Week, G1 and Have I Got News For You. She has also presented the Channel 4 quiz show 1001 Things You Should Know (2012-13) and began hosting a revived series of the same channel's game show Fifteen to One in 2014.

In October 2016, Sandi took over from Stephen Fry as host of the popular BBC television quiz show QI.

Sandi is also a familiar voice to BBC Radio 4 listeners, having appeared on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, The Unbelievable Truth and Just A Minute, amongst other comedy panel shows. She also hosted Radio 4's popular show The News Quiz from 2006 until 2015.

To date, Sandi has more than twenty fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults to her credit, and has also written a monthly column for Good Housekeeping Magazine.
