  • Former ITV Sports Presenter
  • Skilled Facilitator and Awards Host

Nick Owen is a TV presenter and newsreader, best known for co-hosting the breakfast television programme TV-am and presenting the BBC's local news show Midlands Today.

Nick has worked in regional and national television since the late 1970s. He came to national prominence in 1983 as one of the first faces to appear on breakfast television in Britain, initially featuring on ITV's breakfast show TV-am as a sports presenter. Within weeks he had become the anchorman for the programme. He was soon joined by Anne Diamond in a partnership that personified the early years of British Breakfast television.

Nick then moved from the dawn patrol to become ITV Sport's main presenter for six years. During this time, he anchored the Olympic Games of 1988 and the Football World Cup in 1990, as well as hosting hundreds of other programmes in England and abroad.

Nick and Anne Diamond were re-united in the 1990s with their daytime show Good Morning With Anne And Nick on BBC 1. This ran for 600 programmes, before Nick moved to his current post as presenter of the regional news programme, BBC Midlands Today.

In 2006, Nick was awarded the Baird Medal by the Royal Television Society for Lifelong Achievement In Television. He was also named UK Speaker Of The Year in 2010 by the National Association Of Speakers Clubs.

Lifelong Luton FC fan Owen, who currently presents BBC Midlands Today, was the club chairman for nine years.

A highly experienced presenter with a natural charm and wit, Nick Owen is also a consummate Awards Host, Events Presenter and After-dinner Speaker.
