Nick Leeson

  • Author of Rouge Traders, the downfall of Barings Bank
  • Risk Management and its effects on Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Keynote and After Dinner Speaker

Curiosity, intrigue and sympathy have been just some of the reactions to Nick Leeson's incredible life story, making him one of the UK’s most sought-after speakers.

The collapse of Barings Bank - and Nick's role in it - is one of the most spectacular debacles in modern financial history. Nick talks frankly about what happened with Barings, the lack of accounting safeguards, his capture and confinement for nine months in a Frankfurt prison and being sentenced to six years by the Singapore court for forgery and cheating. While in prison, Nick published an autobiography, Rogue Trader, detailing his acts. In 1999, the book was made into a film of the same name starring Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel.

Though his talks, Nick illuminates the seedier side of the banking world and in doing so advises companies about risk and corporate responsibility.
