A performer at the top of the premier league of British comedians, Lee Hurst is best known for his appearances on the TV sports quiz show They Think It's All Over. The show made him a household name, with its impromptu interviews of unwitting sports guests and exchanges with the likes of Gary Lineker and David Gower.
Lee has subsequently appeared in many other Television shows including presenting Shark Tank, Salvage Squad and The Warehouse, with guest appearances on That’s Show Business, The Stand Up Show and Have I Got News For You. He has also appeared as a regular panellist on Don’t Give Up Your Day Job, as well as fronting ITV's revival of the entertainment show Saturday Live. He appeared in the Comic Relief 24 Hour Panel People Special in 2011 and, more recently, on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff.
On radio, Lee has guested on The Steve Wright Show, Euromix, Two Men And A Transmitter and The Robert Elms Show. He was also a team captain on Hold The Front Page, before presenting Wriggling With Eels, a study of Cockney comedians for BBC Radio 4.
Lee has also written for other comedians. He was one of a number of writers for a one-off programme, The Copperfield Comedy Company, featuring David Copperfield, and was the creator of Bring Me the Head of Light Entertainment, which ran for five series on Channel Five (1997 and 2000).
In addition, Lee has made two stand-up DVDs, Live and Live At The Backyard Comedy Club.
Lee’s comedy club - the Backyard Comedy Club - closed in November 2007, but has since reopened under the name The Fym Fyg Bar, with Lee compèring most Saturday evenings. In 2013, he opened a 300-seat purpose-built comedy venue called the Backyard Bar & Kitchen in Bethnal Green.
In addition to his work as a stand up comedian and appearances on TV and radio, Lee also acts as an Awards Host at ceremonies for the travel, IT, printing, commercial vehicle and beauty industries, amongst others.
